Dear Cathy:
My sister’s email
box is continuously flooded with scams for one thing or another. She has been losing weight by going up and
down for the past 20 years by using some of these health and diet scams but now
her health is deteriorating. What can you
tell me about these scams in email boxes?
Health and Diet Scams, Louisiana
Dear Health and
Diet Scams:
Many email
boxes today are continuously flooded with scams for one thing or another and people
today are really gullible. Most email
providers or individuals have set up their inbox so that these spam emails goes
directly into the spam folders so they can be deleted.
Pills that let
you lose weight without exercising or changing your diet, herbal formulas that
melt your fat cells so that they are absorbed by your body, and cures for
impotence and hair loss are among the scams flooding most email boxes today. But these gimmicks don’t work! The fact is
that successful weight loss requires a reduction in calories and an increase in
physical activity.
Beware of these
“KEY WORDS” on products -- case histories from “cured” consumers claiming
amazing results; testimonials from “famous” medical experts you’ve never heard
of; claims that the product is available from only one source or for a limited
time; and ads that use phrases like “scientific breakthrough,” “miraculous
cure,” “exclusive product,” “secret formula,” and “ancient ingredient.”
These are all
ways that consumers get hooked on these health and diet scams. To learn about how the human body operates read
my health book “How To Take Control of Your Own Life: A Self-Help Guide toBecoming Healthier Over the Next 30 Days.”
