Mate Sensitive to Health Topics in My Health Books

June 30, 2016

Dear Cathy:

I write health books for a living. I have only been with my mate for 3 years. Unlike myself who live a very natural and holistic lifestyle, my mate eats processed foods, so therefore his health is not as good as mine and he is on several medications.

Because of his health issues he is convinced I write about him and his health issues in my books but what he needs to understand is that many people have the same health issues today, so I am not referring to him in my writings. How can I get him to understand the difference?
Health Issues, New York

Dear Health Issues:

First of all I appauld you for getting with a mate who health isn't in the same category as yours. Sometimes these types of partnerships can cause unneccessary problems in relationships, especially later on in life.

I agree with you that many health issues today are the same so if you write health books, you could be referring to anyone. If your mate is that sensitive then he should not read your books or he needs to develop thick skin when he does read them.

What you are doing is something really creative and unique and I would not allow him to sideline your efforts to educate the public on what is happening today in regards to people’s health.

People are sick and dying at an alarming rate, especially children, and unless people like yourself continue to educate them in books and other ways, this country won’t have a fighting chance to counteract some of these illnesses today.

Keep up the good work and just tell your mate to stop reading your books if he is that sensitive.
If he is that sensitive then he needs to look at overcoming some of the health challenges he is facing.  Good luck!

How Do I Stop Ex from Texting Me?

June 29, 2016

I want to stay friends with my ex but I believe he thinks we might get back together, however, this is not possible. How can I stay friends with him and get him to cut down on the texts at the same time? Friends With Ex, California

Dear Friends with Ex:

It might not be possible for you to stay friends with your ex, especially after you have chosen to move on. One way to handle this is by writing him a letter and tell him you just want to remain friends and you would appreciate that he not text you that often.

Sometimes even when you tell people something, they won’t believe it but when they see it on paper, it just make more sense to them so write him a letter.

People are so overwhelmed with social media today and if you text him and tell him you don’t want him to keep texting you, then he will just keep texting you, if that makes sense.

Once he receives your letter, his actions after that will be key if you can remain friends at all. You might just have to break off the friendship all together if he continues to text you after that.

If he continues to text you after he receives the letter, don't return any of his texts anymore. Eventually he will get the message that you have moved on. If that doesn't work, then just block his number.

Friend Has Skin Issues

June 27, 2016

Dear Cathy:

My friend has really bad skin and don’t know how to clear it up. She has went to regular doctors and Dermatologists, however, her skin has never improved. Can you explain why her skin looks horrible and what she can do? Skin Issues, Ohio

Dear Skin Issues:

The skin is also known as an organ of the body. The way that you can tell if someone is healthy is by looking at their skin and nails so if your friend has a skin issue, there is something internally going on with her.

First there are several things she needs to look at --  starting with her liver. The liver is the organ that is suppose to breakdown all your foods, the smells you come in contact with and anything that you put on your skin, however, today most people’s livers are only operating at 30%.

This is because of the toxic world we live in and the toxic diets that we are eating, especially Genetically Modified processed foods. So first she need to look at engaging in a liver detox program but first you always want to start off with a 2 week or 30 day colon cleanse before a liver detox program.

The goal is to start having 2 to 3 easy bowel movements every day. So she needs to change her diet by eating lots of fiber, consume more water and engage in a regular exercise program to open up her bowels.

It's important to have a clean colon so the toxins can easily exit her system when she engage in a liver detox program. Most people are eating foods that they are allergic to which can also be cause skin issues, especially chocolate, which can break out your skin.

If she can’t engage in a liver detox program because it makes her too nauseated, then there are liver detoxing foods that she needs to eat. But she needs to match these foods up with the foods on the blood type list so buy the book “Eat 4 Your Type.”

The kind and amount of water that you are eating has a lot to do with what is happening to your skin. She needs to consume enough water everyday and it should be good water such as Alkaline water.

If she doesn’t have access to Alkaline water, then she can buy the Alkaline drops to make her water more alkaline or just buy pure/purified or distilled but stay away from Spring water, which can automatically make her dehydrated. Over 75% of people in this country is dehydrated so this could be another reason for the skin issues.

The goal is to make your body alkaline because disease and sickness can’t exist in an alkaline body and bringing her body to an alkaline state should also help with her skin issue. The only two products that she should be using on her skin is olive oil and coconut oil.

Sister Had Car Accident Because of Bald Tires

June 24, 2016

Dear Cathy:

My sister is single and makes very little money. I had told her several times that she should not drive around town with bald tires on her vehicle, so the unthinkable finally happened.

Her car tire blew out and she had an accident. She was lucky to survive her ordeal and her kids were not in the car at the time but what do women and men need to know about tires on a vehicle. Car Tire Knowledge, Alabama

Dear Car Tire Knowledge:

It’s unfortunate but many women today, especially single women living on very low budgets, continue to drive around on bald tires despite the danger it puts them in. These tires are especially dangerous when it is raining.

You have to keep car tires in good shape. Nothing is easier about auto maintenance than keeping your tires in top shape. It is so easy to do, in fact, however, it's neglected most of the time.

There are two things you can do to avoid most of the problems associated with tires: 1) Keep tires properly inflated, and 2) Rotated.

Many gas stations have an air pump. So do good-old-fashioned service stations and many do-it-yourself car washes, too. Some air pumps are free to use; the rest cost up to one dollar. Either way, the cost is dirt cheap compared to replacing a tire worn out from improper inflation.

Some of the air pumps available for the car owner’s use have built-in pressure gauges, allowing you to pump and check the pressure, and some pumps don’t. Or you can go to an auto parts stores and purchase a good quality pressure gauge, and keep it in the glove compartment. It should only cost around $8.00.

For normal use, tire pressure is simple. Keep the tire inflated according to the specifications stamped on the sidewall – 32 PSI means 32 pounds per square inch, and that’s how the pressure gauge measures the pressure, no conversions necessary.

Underinflated tires are arguably the most common problem on tires. Over time tires will leak a little air. When the weather turns from hot to cold, tire pressure decreases. Underinflated tires present blowout possibilities, control problems, and reduced gas mileage.

By the time a tire “looks” low on pressure, it may be only half inflated. By then, you have become the gas station’s best customer and a potential hazard on the road. If you know of a service station that offers a free tire-pressure check when you get gas there, it might be worth the few extra cents a gallon of gasoline to fill up there once in a while.

Tire rotation prolongs the life of a set of tires by making them wear down evenly. It also provides an extra measure of safety by putting a mechanic’s eye close to possible tire, brake, and other problems on a regular basis.

Should I Release A Press Release for My New Book?

June 23, 2016

Dear Cathy:

I just released my first book. Do I need to do a press release to put my book out there? New Book, Connecticut

Dear New Book:

The best way to capture the attention of news entities is to send out a “press release.” Press releases are also called “news” or “media” releases.

You should distribute a press release when you are launching a media campaign; Rolling out a marketing campaign; Holding an event (seminar, luncheon, conference, party, etc.); Releasing a new product or product line; Announcing to prospects and customers that you’ve changed your location or are opening a new branch; Announcing that a company has made staff promotions or signed a new partner; and publishing quarterly and year-end financial reports.

Press releases are the most important documents to media entities. Media entities pay close attention to press releases because they are typically short and to the point. Many times if you don’t put your important events in a press release, it will be ignored by the media.

Nowadays, many news entities are accepting releases by email. Remember, these new entities can be members of your family, friends, and neighbors that will help you get your story out.

When constructing a press/news release it should be no more than 250 words (one page) double-spaced; It should have a headline that summarizes the story, helps the editor find the lead, and organizes the story; It is written in third person, never first person; A great release tells the story in only four paragraphs; Each paragraph should be less than thirty words; The purpose of each paragraph is to move the story along; Include a contact name and telephone number in case the media requires more information or clarification; Always date the release; If it is for immediate release (and it usually is), print those words after or below the current date; and if the release is to be held for any length of time, indicate the appropriate date.

Paragraph one of the press/news release contains the basic facts: who, what, where, when, and why. Paragraph two offers a slightly broader explanation of the basic reason for the release. Paragraphs three and four contain more information on the reason for the release.

Put the least important facts at the bottom. That’s where editors cut first, even without reading. For a small fee, public relations newswire services will circulate your news release for you.

Mate Buys Tacky Gifts

June 22, 2016

Dear Cathy:

I have been a widow for 5 years. I met a wonderful man who stays over at my home most of the time. He gives me gifts that I don’t really like. Some I believe are tacky gifts.

I never display his gifts so I was hoping he would figure out that since I don’t display his gifts, that they are not the types of gifts I really want. How do I keep him from buying me future gifts that I don’t really desire? Tacky Gifts, Missouri

Dear Tacky Gifts:

The fact that he is buying you gifts is pretty fantastic on his part because many men don’t even believe in doing this for their partners. Some guys don’t have a romantic bone in their bodies and these types of acts are very romantic, even though the gifts are not up to your standards.

Many men know that women like gifts but many have no idea what women really want. Remember “Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus” so each of our brains work differently. Many men will have a hard time figuring out what women really enjoy unless you tell them this upfront.

If he is buying you all these gifts and you really don’t desire these items then you need to speak with him about this. Tell him you appreciate the gifts, but it would be best if the both of you shop for any future gifts together.

Letting Go of A Beloved Pet

June 20, 2016

Dear Cat:

I am 45 years old and have never been married so many people are already calling me "The Cat Lady." Some joke that I will be an old maid with plenty of cats running around the house. The problem is my cat is sick and I have spent a lot of money on her. She is blind in one eye and only have 3 legs. When is it time to let go of a beloved pet?  Cat Lover, Virginia

Dear Cat Lover:

Over 60% of family homes today have a pet, mostly a dog or cat, so you are not in a league of your own. Animals can be just like family members. Loving animals is a great way to live your life, however, when it gets too expensive to care for your pets, you really should rethink letting them go.

Especially if the cost to take care of them is too high for you to invest in their care. You should always put your health and well-being before anyone and remember a cat is a pet, not a human being.

I know that replacing an animal with another animal will be extremely hard, especially if you have had your pet for years, but sometimes you are just putting them through needless suffering so the best thing to do is to let them go.

It might be true that a cat has 9 lives but when it's time to let go, you need to recognize the signs. Only you and your veterinarian knows when its time to say goodbye to your beloved pet.

Remember you gave them the best years of their lives by taking care of them so be grateful that they were a part of your life.

Friend Won’t Support My New Eating Habits

June 17, 2016

Dear Cathy:

I recently attended a vegan resort to learn how to eat better and I am losing weight. However, my friend who did not attend this resort with me continues to eat all the wrong foods.

She is always suggesting that we go to different restaurants but I prefer to prepare my meals at home. I am thinking about backing off from our friendship so that I can do what I need to do, which is simply to lose weight and be healthier. How do I handle this with my friend? Putting Health Over Friendship, Arkansas

Dear Need Weight Conscious Friends:

You are definitely making the right decision to back off from your friend. You have went out of your way to attend this resort so that you can live a longer, healthier and happier life so now is the time to find weight-conscious friends who will support what you are doing.

As friends get older many times they drift apart and for many reasons so the fact that you no longer wish to be associated with your friend because of her eating habits is a good idea. She should understand how you feel or you just need to start making excuses why you can no longer hang out with her.

Eventually she will get the message that it is time for your friendship to go into another direction. You should always put your health over your friendship.

Settling for Best Friend

June 16, 2016

Dear Cathy:

I met my best friend in college and at the age of 35 we are getting married. Somehow I feel I am settling with him because I haven’t met the real Mr. Right. Sexually we are okay but will I continue to wonder if I made a mistake? What is your advice about our marriage? Settling in Connecticut

Dear Settling:

It’s possible you are settling with your friend. Many women do settle with men in their lives, especially their best friends, simply because they haven’t met that man who is full of that fiery passion, which they are really seeking. And many times they settle because their child-bearing years are coming to an end.

On the other hand, sometimes these are the best men for you. Some women marry men they have known since elementary school and their relationships turns out okay.

You just have to ask yourself – are you settling or should you wait for Mr. Right? Remember, you have to work on and build good relationships, so the fact that you know everything about this man because you have been best friends for a while, can be a major plus.

However, instead of hitting the marriage button, I would at least stay engaged for a while longer, especially if you are still having doubts. Get busy and put all that sexual energy into a hobby, business or travel.

Broaden your horizon and widen your circle of acquaintances by joining meetup.com groups and meet new people. This will open you up to meet others or you will eventually realize that you already have that special someone that you want to spend your life with.
